Walden is out today! Walden is about a desire to go somewhere else, to live a different life for a little while. It also has a very different instrumental feel than my previous songs. A song for the musical theater kids who love nature #singersongwriter
Hi friends, It's been such a cool weekend for me. I spent most of the week getting ready for the album release party, so working on this video felt like a creative break. It's a song that I've loved for a long time, and the first song that got me into Hozier's music. I wanted to experiment with space in this cover, so I explored having different background vocals in or out at different points in the song. I'm very pleased with how it turned out, let me know what you think! I'm also officially on teaching break, so I'm looking forward to making some fun mini covers and short videos, as well as some fun videos from my album release party. I tend to have a pretty big crash after big events (I call it post-gig blues), so I'm going to try to rest also so I can jump into the next big project with vigor. Hi friends, This has been quite an unusual week with holiday stuff and album release party prep and the end of the teaching term coming up (plus being a bit sick off and on again haha), so it took me several days to decide what cover to do. But this song has been on my mind since a few months ago when I started listening through Joni Mitchell's album Blue. I'm obsessed with how she uses small variations in the song to keep it interesting even with a lot of repetition. I tried to have a bit more instrumental with this cover too, so let me know if you like it!
